OK, (Robin here) .

OK, (Robin here) ... my sincerest apologies to everyone ... that last post was never selected as to "Public", yet it went out ... it also went missing on the G+MPfP Page, so I couldn't delete it immediately. G+ is messing with me today, and I am so very sorry about that!

For everyone who had applied to the "Camera Basics: Beyond Automatic" mentorship –– we've made our selections for the current mentorship. We had a limited number of spaces available, so if you did not receive a notification on the new post, that does not make you less-worthy. Please try again in the future.

When you try again, here are the criteria we use for selections to the the mentorships:

It will be a larger group than the last, but it is with a heavy heart that we must turn some folks down this go around.
Since all of you read in the sign-up post that we search for active and interactive people to participate in these mentorships––because people who give of themselves should receive––if you are not selected this go around, it is for one of the following reasons:

–– You do not individually thank people on your own posts. This is a biggie; it is the very first thing we look for, when it comes to interactivity here! Sometimes we see, with people that have only 3-10 comments on their own posts, people who've given the poster a positive comment and they either only get a plus from the poster or nothing at all in response. I understand the time factor if you have 50 people commenting in rapid-fire on your posts, but not having the time to personally thank 10 people who have commented on your own work means that you do not have the time to participate in a mentorship, which requires that you give back during the time. A bulk "thank you, everyone!" at the bottom of your comment sections doesn't show sufficient appreciation for those who've given you a tiny piece of their lives by typing out a comment instead of merely plussing … ;o).

–– You post links to your blog posts instead of creating posts directly here at G+. That is not being active here at G+. The mentorships through the G+ Mentorship Program for Photographers are for people who are here at G+ and are contributing members of the full G+ community.

–– You have a fake name. Sorry about that, but Google+ has a "real names" policy. We want the other members of the group to feel as though they are working with real people; that is the only way this group experience flourishes.

–– You've only been on G+ a short time or post Privately only. There was not enough content in your profile stream for us to gauge properly your suitability for the mentorship. Please consider sharing some of your photography to the Public, as well as getting yourself out there and interacting with the Google+ community as a whole, to be considered for a future mentorship with the program.

–– You added your info in the sign-up post much later than others. It's not a "first come, first selected" process, but those who sign-up first are the first profiles that we look through; sometimes the circle of selectees fills up quickly.

We're not judging!
You can have whatever experience you wish to have here at G+. We're saying nothing against your choices and we understand that there are reasons for everything. This is only to let you know that, if you were not notified as being selected, and you still wish to be in a future mentorship––and we hope you do, as there were some wonderful folks who signed up that we won't be taking this time around––please take a look to see what category you fall into from those we have listed above.

Thank you so much for your understanding,
G+ Mentorship Program for Photographers
