I am going to have a summer round of the +G+ Mentorship Program for Photographers  I am offering a 10 week program to a selection of entusiastic photographers wanting to take their work to the next level. I am very excited to be able to share my experience as an artist turned photographer with this new group.  If you would like to participate in an interactive, intimate,  community based learning environment with myself and a couple of other selected photographers then read on!

Beth Akerman   will be taking on a handful of people for a special program called ARTISTIC PHOTOGRAPHY for photographers. This is a mentorship program designed to help you hone your artistic sensibilities and vision and apply them to your photography work. This 10 week course will focus on your ability to see both in artistic terms (colour, shape, line, tone, texture etc...) but also to create a piece of art out of a simple photograph.  (Not that photography is not already art, but that you can push fairly ordinary photographs into being art by using a few basic design elements and processing techniques.)

What this course is not
This course is not a “how to use your camera” program it is a “how to use your vision” program. There will be guidance offered on technical aspects of photography as it helps us in our weekly lesson, but keep in mind it is not a course on f-stops and apertures.

Up to 10 photographers will be selected for a ten week on-line apprenticeship program which will include lessons, assignments,  Google hangouts are possible, and informal discussions are encouraged. Mainly, the goal is for everyone to have fun, collaborate, and learn from each other.

Selections will be announced on Sunday June 17th  for the mentorship beginning withing days of the announcement of selected mentors. I am coordinating with Robin Griggs Wood & Ron Clifford on their mentorship programs and will work with them if you have signed up for one of their mentorships already to see if they have accepted you into theirs. Please, if possible indicate whether or not you signed up already on one of their posts.

Selection criteria will include:

• You should be taking and posting photographs regularly -- a maximum of three days between PUBLIC posts here on G+; more increases your chances of being selected. (The class itself will be private to the group  except for the option of a public display album of your best work at the end.) you may publicly post your own achievements of course, and I encourage it!!
• You should be interactive here at G+, as you will be expected to participate in this program giving feedback and comments to others.
• You have little previous art studies, as this program is designed for those who have not had the opportunity to add this skill set to their knowledge base.

To be considered for selection, please comment to this main post only: (not to any reshares)

and answer the following questions in your comment:
1) Photography skill level
2) Photo editing software used most
3) Favorite subjects to photograph
4) Aspirations within photography
5) Current job or profession (or favorite hobby outside of photography)
6) Previous art studies

EXAMPLE ANSWERS
1) Intermediate hobby photographer
2) Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop CS3
3) Trees, landscapes, waterfalls
4) To sell prints of my work
5) Full-time grocery store clerk, and I collect bottle caps.
6) I have no previous art studies

The mentorship program  is a lot of fun and has great  interaction, it also requires a commitment to complete the weekly assignments.  If you feel you won't have time to dedicate to going out and taking lots of pictures, then please consider allowing others the chance to participate
